Course Description

Because the ZENworks Configuration Management architecture is radically different from the traditional ZENworks Desktop Management architecture, you cannot perform an in-place upgrade of ZENworks Desktop Management to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management. However, ZENworks 10 Configuration Management provides a set of tools, called the ZENworks Migration Utility, to help you migrate your data from previous ZENworks products.
The purpose of this course is to familiarize you with the ZENworks Migration Utility and the process for migrating a traditional ZENworks environment to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management. Additionally, this section examines several key components and processes that are useful in migrating ZENworks Desktop Management to ZENworks Configuration Management. By the time you complete this course you should be able to:

This course consists of lecture and a hands on portion. In the hands on portion of this course you use the information learned to migrate the ZENworks Desktop Management objects on the DA-ZDM server to the ZENworks 10 Configuration Management zone (DA-ZONE) on the DA-ZCM server and how to better apply the information taught.

Audience Summary

This course is designed for Network Administrators with fundamental knowledge of ZENworks Desktop Management who are considering migrating from ZENworks Desktop Management (v4 - 7) to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management.

Course Prerequisites

You should have a basic understanding of networks and networking concepts. You should be familiar with ZENworks Desktop Management and with the fundamentals of an LDAP-compliant directory service (such as Novell eDirectory or Microsoft Active Directory).
