The core of any identity infrastructure is the directory service that enables your users to perform their daily tasks. Novell eDirectory provides the foundation for more identity management deployments than any other directory service in the market. In this course, participants will expand on their existing knowledge base of administering and managing eDirectory, and learn what goes on behind the scenes in order to more effectively manage, monitor, and diagnose issues in environments of all sizes. Participants will gain knowledge and skills using the course materials and hands-on labs covering:
- Current eDirectory implementations
- eDirectory architecture including system partitions
- Advanced usage of eDirectory tools: iMonitor, iManager, the eDirectory Management Toolbox, DSREPAIR, and Linux command line utilities
- Accessing eDirectory data through the use of LDAP and supported LDAP tools such as the Import Convert Export (ICE) utility
- How to understand eDirectory background processes including the obituary process and the new eDirectory 8.8 Priority Synchronization process
- How to customise eDirectory through cache tuning, indexing, auxiliary schema classes, and the new eDirectory 8.8 features of encrypted replication, encrypted attributes, and multiple instance install on Linux.
- Performing eDirectory health checks using iMonitor and DSTRACE and troubleshooting several problem scenerios
The labs in this course utilise multiple platforms and focus on the cross-platform capabilities of the directory, providing information that is useful to students regardless of the platform used in their production environments
