Description

Your systems must be secure, yet agile enough to meet the ever-changing needs of your users. As new hires, customers, partnerships, mergers, job changes and terminations reshape users' access needs, Novell Identity Manager 3.6 automates complex provisioning processes so they all have immediate access to needed resources across the enterprise. Novell Identity Manager 3.6 delivers swift, secure identity management by automating changes to user access rights, passwords and profiles-- streamlining administration and reducing costs.

Through this course, you will learn to use Identity Manager 3.6 to accelerate the flow of information throughout your organization and enhance efficiency by removing the barriers between applications, data stores and network platforms by creating identity manager policies that automatically distribute new and updated identity information within your environment. Special emphasis will be given on how to create, manage, and utilize these policies in your Identity solution.

Course Outline

During this course, you will learn to:

  • Configure an Identity Manager 3.6 meta-directory provisioning solution by configuring authoritative sources using Identity Manager’s engine and drivers such as JDBC, Active Directory, Delimited Text, Null, and the new ID Provider driver.
  • Configure and learn the password features that are available with Identity Manager 3.6 such as Password Synchronization, Password Sync Validation, and Password Sync Status.
  • Design and admininster your Identity Manager solution with Designer and iManager. Many new and updated features of Designer 3.0 and iManager will be discussed such as Version Control, Live DSTrace, Policy Simulation, Driver Set Dashboard, Driver Cache Inspector, and Driver Health Monitoring.
  • Create policies with the newly enhanced Policy Builder to provision user rights. New engine and policy features used in labs include Nested Group Support, Java Environment Parameters, and Reciprocal Attribute Mapping.
  • Designate times to kick off an event or a process using Jobs.
  • Effectively implement and use Entitlements in your Identity solution.

NOTE: This training does not cover the workflow/roles interface that comes with Identity Manager 3.6.1.
